A Workshop To Help Maximize Your Social Security Benefits
With the economy and needs of consumers changing, it’s becoming more and more important to make the most of Social Security benefits. A few simple tips may help those preparing to start their Social Security benefits save thousands of dollars, and for those already receiving their benefits, there may be ways to increase benefits in the long term. Kirk Larson, a Western Washington public affairs specialist for the Social Security Administration, is presenting fast-paced one hour workshop called “Social Security After Retirement. Larson has been recognized by both the Social Security Administration and other Federal Government organizations for his outstanding public service and hopes to help others maximize their Social Security benefits.
This workshop will help create strategies that can help you decide when to begin receiving benefits, the advantages of making claims based on spousal work history, and how to negotiate the rules of working, either full-time or part-time, while receiving benefits.
Before attending the class, make sure to open a Social Security online account, print out, and bring your Social Security statement. If needed, Kirk Larson is around after the class to help in setting up an account.
This workshop will be presented from 4-5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28 at the Puyallup Library, 324 S. Meridian in Puyallup. This workshop is jointly sponsored by the Social Security Administration and the Pierce County Community Connections Aging & Disability Resource center.
