Employers Have to Provide Kasambahay Workers with Social Security Benefits

Social Security lawyers have now imposed a requirement for employers of domestic workers under the Batas Kasambahay or the Domestic Workers Act that would guarantee they receive a minimum wage set by the wage board.  Not only this, but they will receive added employment benefits such as PhilHealth and membership to the Social Security system.

Hot damn.

Johnson Cañete, the regional director of the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) in Northern Mindanao Region, adds, “They shall also be entitled to only eight hours of work otherwise overtime pay will be required if they have extended their hours of service.”

Workers not receiving P5,000 monthly salary will be the ones receiving the social security benefit, including leave benefits and 13-month pay.
