The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), known as Obamacare in certain circles, is currently running campaigns featuring an entourage of actors, musicians and athletes urging folks to sign up for the health insurance program.
So if you’re a retiree, what does signing up for Obamacare mean for you?
Well, Medicare is improved by adding a free annual preventive check-up and shuts the gap between your initial coverage limit and catastrophic coverage when it comes to drug plans. Also, if you’re over 50 but yet still too young to receive Medicare, or even if your employer doesn’t provide group health insurance, the law will make it much easier to obtain coverage. Usually if you have already have some sort of medical condition, insurers tend to turn way applications. Obamacare will prohibit insurers from doing this.
